Situated at the northernmost edge of Central Park, this art gallery adjuncts itself to the iconography of art collections along its border, marking the site as the threshold that binds Manhattan to Harlem. Sandcasted glass panels form canyon-like atriums, illuminating the boundaries universally crossed by marginalized groups local to Harlem and throughout its gentrification. Branching composite steel and recycled-concrete columns secure to 4 ft. deep reinforced transfer beams located at the form’s cantilevering shifts. Concluding their upward journey, the visitor is invited to bask in the wealth of public views overlooking an encompassing Manhattan, the city of “Excelsior,”.
