SITE MATTERS
ARC 207 Design Studio led by Nathan Williams
Practicing responding to the edges and conditions of a site, the students were asked to design an Artist Residency Program & Exhibition Space. The building would provide temporary living and studio space for 5 artists per season. This project would be located in Africatown, origin of the Gee’s Bend quilts.
An initial case study was done on Peter Zumthor’s Zinc Mine Museum, examining its tectonic structure specifically in relation to shell its material.
